The Delta faucet company has been in the business of making faucets since 1954 and their specialization has been in bath and kitchen faucets in various styles. One of the greatest budget savers is knowing how to repair your own kitchen and bath faucets without hiring a plumber. Therefore, the delta faucet company offers a Delta faucet repair kit which can be found in any hardware store at $10 or below. There are instructions on how to repair your own faucets. You will need some tools which are screwdrivers (Phillips & Flat head), Pliers, Needle nose Pliers, Allen wrench and a rag. Below are some instructions to guide you on how to go about repairing the damaged faucet;

The first step is locating your shut-off valve and then turn of the water before you begin working on the damaged faucet. Depending on the faucet the shut-off valve could be located in various places with some directly under the sink. In others you will have to follow the water line to the main source of the water and then turn it off.
Ensure you have a stopper, rag or anything that will help you clog the drain. This will ensure that you will not loose any small parts in the tub or sink.In order to pop off the caps you may need to use a flat screwdriver.
The other step is try to locate the screw inside the Delta faucet handle or even at its basement. Then use an Allen Wrench or screwdriver to remove the screw then twist the handle until it comes out especially if the Delta Faucet is a single handle kitchen.
Then remove the collar holding the stem’s assembly although some faucets will have the piece while others won’t. Use your hand to turn the collar then remove it. In case it does not move you can wrap the rag around it then pry it to loose using the pair of pliers. A rag will assist in you protecting the finishing on the collar.
Remove the nut on top of the stem assembly using a pair of pliers then place the nut aside.
Then remove the stem assembly and try to look out for any signs of damage that are visible to the eye. The delta faucet repair kit will have some o-rings which you will need to replace with the old o-rings in the stem assembly the reason being most of the faucets problems could be fixed by the replacement of the o-rings. The other places you can look for any damages are the springs and seals inside the faucet stem body. If there are any damaged springs and seals the repair kit contains new springs and seals which can be used for replacing the damaged ones. Then the other part you need to check for any damages is the plastic shield piece which is usually on top of the stem and then it can be replaced with a new plastic piece which is in the repair kit.
The final step is reassembling of the faucet parts in the manner they were removed and the switch on the water from the main source.
